The Premier National Youth Triathlon Race Series Benefiting Charitable Organizations
Race Date: August 16, 2008
Tri to Cure is a youth triathlon for ages 6-15 held in Greenville, South Carolina, on the beautiful campus of Furman University. The triathlon consists of three events – a pool swim, a bike ride around the Furman lake, and a run on the campus mall.
Tri to Cure is a non-profit event, and all our proceeds go directly to the chosen charity. To date Tri to Cure has seen over 1400 kids participate and raise over $75,000 for kids facing the daily challenges of living with an incurable disease.
"I never thought I could do something like that. It taught me to try new things!" - Seth, age 9
Distances vary according to age. The 6-10 year olds will swim 100 meters, bike 2.5 miles, and run .5 of a mile. The 11-15 year olds will swim 200 meters, bike 5 miles, and run 1 mile.
Important: Due to a change in USAT rules for 2006 we will be required to have each participant fill out a USAT license form and pay $5. This fee must be separate from the Tri to Cure registration fee and must be made out to USAT. You may pay the fee and fill out the forms on the USAT web site. The address is www.usatriathlon.com/Membership. If you wish, you may also fill out the forms and pay the $5 fee at packet pick up at Tri to Cure Friday, August 15th or Saturday August 16th. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Jeremey Davis at set-upinc.com. or Jennifer Helms on the contact us page.
*Because of renovations occurring to the Furman pool, the event for 2008 has been changed to a duathlon, a run-bike-run event. Participants aged 5 through 10 will run a quarter-mile loop, bike 2 1/2 miles, and run another 1/4 mile loop. Ages 11 and up will run a half-mile loop, bike 5 miles, and run another 1/2 mile loop. We will return to a triathlon format in 2009.
